LONDON (Reuters) - Boyband wonders JLS pipped Robbie Williams to the number one spot in the album chart on Sunday in one of the most tightly contested battles in chart history.
The British band's self-titled album beat Robbie Williams' "Reality Killed The Video Star" to the top, with a winning margin between them of less than one percent.
Both albums smashed the 200,000 sales barrier, the Official Charts Company said. They are the fastest selling albums of the year so far, ahead of Eminem's "Relapse" and U2's "No Line On The Horizon."
JLS, last year's runners up on British TV talent show the "X Factor," knocked Cheryl Cole, a judge on the show, off pole position for the second time in a week.
Last week they knocked her from the top of the single's charts.
There are three other new entries in the album charts Top 10 this week: Snow Patrol's "Up To Now" at number three, Biffy Clyro's "Only Revolutions" at number eight and Rod Stewart's Soulbook at number ten.
In the Official UK Singles Chart, American hip hop band Black Eyed Peas climbed two places to number one with "Meet Me Halfway"
New entries in the Top 10 singles were N-Dubz at number five with "I Need You," Britney Spears "3" at number seven, and the new Sugababes line-up saw "About A Girl" go straight in at number eight.
